House in the middle of the Street
Originally a modest, aging structure, the three-level house has been carefully reworked into a refined and modern home for a single family. Rather than erase its past, the redesign builds upon it — reorganizing space, improving light flow, and introducing a calm material palette that speaks to contemporary living. The exterior was given a fresh architectural clarity: simplified volumes, generous windows, and natural materials like timber and smooth plaster now define its presence, giving the house both a softened warmth and a renewed identity within its surroundings.
Inside, each of the three levels has been purposefully reimagined to support the rhythm of family life. The ground floor, once dark and fragmented, now opens into a flowing living area with a connection to the garden — welcoming natural light and outdoor views into everyday life. The middle floor hosts the private zones: bedrooms and bathrooms that emphasize comfort and retreat, with restrained tones and tactile finishes. The top floor, shaped by the original roofline, has been expanded and lightened to become a studio or reading space, a quiet refuge that captures sky and stillness.
What unites the house is not its size, but its thoughtful coherence. A restrained palette of oak wood, brushed metal, and matte surfaces repeats across all levels, creating a sense of visual calm and spatial continuity. The staircase — refined and open—links the floors as a sculptural element, guiding movement without interruption. This is a home that respects what came before, while opening toward the future: grounded in simplicity, elevated by detail, and deeply attuned to the life unfolding within it.
